When people come to counselling, it is often because they want something to be different in their lives. They may want to solve a particular problem, make a decision, or better understand their lives or themselves. Together, we will explore your feelings and concerns and the changes you want to make. When we both understand your situation, you are assisted to devise various ways to meet your goals for counselling.

Counselling is helpful for a variety of difficulties. When counselling is effective, clients report a variety of positive changes including increased self-confidence, better mood, more energy, increased clarity about decisions, better problem-solving, higher self-esteem, great self-understanding, relief from previously troubling symptoms and patterns, and better relationships with other people. Counselling is not effective for everyone, and does involve some risks.

During counselling, clients may experience uncomfortable feelings or recall or talk about troubling incidents and memories. Sometimes, a desired change is accompanied by challenging consequences (for example, gaining greater self-confidence may lead to difficulties in some relationships with others).

Fees for counselling at Change InSight are in line with the recommended minimum fee guidelines set forth by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Counselling for individuals is $110.00 per standard 50 minute session

Counselling for couples and families is $120.00 per 50 minute session

Services provided by Registered Clinical Counsellors and Registered Therapeutic Counsellors may be covered by your extended health plan or through your Employee Assistance Program. Please check with your plan provider for further information.

If your extended health plan does not currently cover RTC or RCC services, it may be possible to have your coverage expanded to include these services by having your HR department contact your group insurance provider and have it added. Your counsellor will be happy to provide you with a letter to help you access this coverage.
